1. HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL COIL (Z)

AS THE NAME IMPLIES, THE STEEL SHEET IS IMMERSED IN THE MOLTEN ZINC BATH CONTINUOUSLY SO THAT THE COIL IS COVERED WITH A LAYER OF ZINC ON ITS SURFACE. HOT-DIP GALVANIZING IS IMMERSING THE CLEANED IRON SHEET INTO THE MOLTEN ZINC BATH AT ABOUT 450 DEGREES TO FORM A ZINC LAYER. THE ZINC CONTENT SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN 99%. IT IS THE MOST COMMONLY USED METHOD. IT HAS SOME ADVANTAGEOUS FEATURES:

1) THE ENTIRE STEEL SURFACE IS UNIFORMLY COVERED WITH A ZINC LAYER, EVEN THE CORNERS, HOLLOWS, ETC. SO THAT THE STEEL SHEET IS FULLY PROTECTED.

2) THE ZINC COATING OF HOT DIP GALVANIZED STEEL IS THICK AND TOUGH, WHICH OFFERS SUPERIOR CORROSION RESISTANCE. SO IT IS MORE DURABLE TO USE. AT WANZHI STEEL, THE MAXIMUM ZINC LAYER THICKNESS CAN REACH UP TO 275 G/M2.

BUT AFTER CONTINUOUS ANNEALING AND HOT-DIP GALVANIZING, THE STEEL COIL IS HEATED AND COOLED IN A SHORT TIME SO THAT ITS STRENGTH AND PLASTICITY ARE AFFECTED TO A CERTAIN EXTENT.

2. ZINC-IRON ALLOY GALVANIZED STEEL COIL (ZF)

3. THE HOT-DIP GALVANIZING PROCESS ALSO MANUFACTURES THIS KIND OF STEEL COIL. BUT IT IS HEATED TO ABOUT 500 ℃ IMMEDIATELY TO FORM AN ALLOY COATING OF ZINC AND IRON AFTER IT IS OUT OF THE ZINC BATH. THIS GALVANIZED COIL HAS GOOD COATING ADHESION AND WELDABILITY. THAT IS, IT CAN BE PAINTED DIRECTLY WITHOUT FURTHER TREATMENT, OTHER THAN CLEANING. THE COLOR IS MATT OFF-WHITE, AND IT APPEARS DARK GRAY AFTER OILING AND IT HAS NO SPANGLES. IT IS PERFECT FOR MAKING ROLLING SHUTTERS, SIGNBOARDS, PANELS OF VENDING MACHINES, REFRIGERATORS, WASHING MACHINES, DISPLAY CABINETS, OFFICE CABINETS, ETC.

4. ELECTRO-GALVANIZED STEEL COIL

5. ELECTRO-GALVANIZING IS A PROCESS OF APPLYING A LAYER OF ZINC TO STEEL THROUGH ELECTROPLATING, WITH A SALINE ANODE AND STEEL CONDUCTOR. IT BASICALLY ENSURES THE SAME PERFORMANCE OF COLD ROLLED SHEETS THROUGH COLD GALVANIZING. ALSO, IT IS ABLE TO ENHANCE THE CORROSION AND HEAT RESISTANCE OF STEEL. ITS SURFACE IS SMOOTH AND UNIFORM, AND IT HAS GOOD WORKABILITY. ALSO, IT LOOKS SHINY AND SILVER-WHITE, WHICH IS MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN A HOT-DIP ONE. MOREOVER, IT IS CHEAPER THAN HOT-DIP GALVANIZED STEEL. HOWEVER, THE ZINC COATING IS THINNER, AND THE CORROSION RESISTANCE IS NOT AS GOOD AS THAT OF HOT-DIP GALVANIZED COILS.

The advantages of Hot Dip Galvanized Steel Coil : 

Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) provides three levels of corrosion resistance to steel: barrier protection, cathodic protection, and the zinc patina. Hot-dip galvanizing, like other coatings, isolates the steel from the environment providing basic, barrier protection. 

What is difference Between Hot Dip Galvanized Steel And Electro Galvanized Steel ?

1. Appearance difference

2. The surface of electro-galvanized steel is smooth, dense, beautiful and shiny without zinc flower.

3. The surface of the hot-dip galvanized steel is uneven, rough and uneven, shiny and white. Some products have zinc flowers and knocking may because the zinc-iron alloy layer to fall off in small pieces ;

5. Electro-galvanized is suitable for small parts.

7. Zinc coating thickness and weight difference

8. The thickness of the electroplated zinc layer is about 10um, the zinc layer is thin, and the adhesion is weak; the minimum galvanized amount is 15g / m2 and the maximum is 100g / m2.

9. The thickness of the hot-dip galvanized zinc layer is about 60um, the zinc layer is thick, the adhesion is strong, and the zinc layer is not easy to fall off; the minimum amount of galvanizing is 40-60g / m2 on both sides and the maximum is 600g g / m2 ;

10. Corrosion resistance and zinc coating structure difference

11. Galvanized zinc has poor corrosion resistance compared to hot-dip galvanized and is suitable for indoor use. The zinc atoms of the electroplated zinc layer are only deposited on the surface of the metal parts and adhere to the surface of the steel strip by physical action. There are many pores, which are easy to cause pitting corrosion due to corrosive media.

12. Hot-dip galvanizing is more corrosion resistant than electro-galvanizing and suitable for outdoor use. There is a slightly brittle compound layer between the pure zinc coating of the hot-dip galvanized sheet and the steel strip substrate. When the pure zinc coating crystallizes, zinc flower is formed, and the coating is uniform and non-porous ;

14. The price of small parts of electrogalvanized zinc is low, and the price of large parts is high. The process of zinc coating for large parts of electro-galvanized zinc is complicated, the speed of zinc coating is slow, the cost increases more, and it is not economical.

15. The price of hot-dip galvanized small parts is high and the price of large parts is low. Hot-dip galvanizing has a fast galvanizing speed and a large amount of hot-dip galvanizing ;

17. Galvanized zinc has great environmental pollution, while hot-dip galvanizing has little environmental pollution ;

18. Processing performance difference

19. The processing performance of electro-galvanized parts is good: electro-galvanized sheet uses cold-rolled sheet as raw material, which basically guarantees the same processing performance of cold-rolled sheet.

Application :

Hot-dip galvanizing is has a wide range of applications, and its advantage is that it has a long anti-corrosion period. It is mainly used for home appliances, office panels, roof sheets, automotive panels, construction and substrate of prepainted steel coils.
